David Taylor (Author)About The Publisher & Author

David Taylor received an Army officer's commission from Infantry Officer Candidate School in 1968 and is a graduate of the Army's Airborne, Ranger and Special Forces training. He served in Vietnam as an infantry platoon leader in the Americal Division and, after 4 years of active duty, served 22 years in the Army Reserve Special Forces branch.

Taylor's Army reserve assignments included an orientation towards Latin America, counter-terrorism and Joint Command Special Operations. He retired in 1993 as a Colonel. The last unit he commanded received a Joint Meritorious Unit Commendation. Taylor's awards and decorations include the Silver Star, two Purple Hearts and the Legion of Merit.

David Taylor's business career focused on management positions in the plastics industry including international operations, product management, competitive intelligence, new business development and responsibility for advertising and public affairs in a $1.2 billion plastics company.

In his retirement he has been heavily involved in veteran's organizations and writing military history. He is a past National Commander of the Americal Division Veterans Association (ADVA) and the Chairman of the ADVA Executive Council as well as contributing editor to its quarterly publication, the Americal Journal. He has written articles about World War II and the Vietnam War and has also reviewed other books about war for national publications.
